Arrived in Hong Kong

Finally here. Chilling in the lounge waiting on my a.m. ferry to mainland China.

No Skateboards Arrowed!

Japanese customs lady tried to tell me that "skateboards not arrowed Japan!" over and over again. Thankfully the combination of language barrier, my stubbornness, and her boss I was able to keep my board. Pics from the flight over here.

Response to Nancy Pelosi

Dear Nancy Pelosi and other Congressional proponents of the healthcare bill,

In response to Ms. Pelosi's statement; "We need to pass this bill now and find out what's in it later."
Passing this 2200 page healthcare bill without knowing what's written on every single page is the same as signing a contract without reading it first.
Rule 1 of adult life: NEVER, under any circumstances, sign anything without reading it first.
I am not against universal healthcare.
I am against making major decisions based on poor information.

Regards,
Maxwell Harris White

P.S. Please mail me a copy of the 2200 page document, I'll go
halfsies on the shipping costs with you.

First Skatepark

This video blew me away! Click Here to watch the footage. The Animal House was a skatepark owned and operated by the Maloley family in Ferrysburg, MI. The skater in the video is Lonnie Pease. I have no idea how Lonnie and the other older guys at the ramps put up with me everyday when I was 10 years old, but I would like to thank them publicly for doing so. The skaters at Animal House, Lonnie especially, played a huge role in shaping me as a skateboarder and as a human. If anyone knows of any other footage from this skatepark please contact me.

After thought: I can vividly recall every moment, emotion, and fear that I experienced the first time I dropped in on the ramp in this footage, I must have been 8 or so.

Fall 2009 Jap Footage

This compression sucks! Click HERE for the full quality edit.
A few shots of a battle from this past fall (2009). Jap skating the 11 set in Newport, KY.

Man down!

Spent the evening in the ER with Jap. Broke his elbow and got his first shot of morphine all in the same day. Get well soon! Edit below.

Boards for China

Thanks to Andrew Martin at Galaxie Skateshop for helping make this opportunity possible. After my first trip to mainland China it became pretty obvious that, outside of Hong Kong, rural kids had no access to anything skateboard related let alone the money to pay for it. With the help of Galaxie Skateshop we rounded up spare decks, trucks, and wheels to make four complete setups to bring over. These will be the first, to my knowledge, skateboards to land in the rural areas of Guangdong province in southern China. I'm gonna try and film as much as possilbe about the experience from beginning to end and post the edits shortly after my return. Additional thanks to Ran Barnaclo and Mormo Jehomo for helping me get everything setup. Hope this shit gets through customs!

In preparation for takeoff...

Pre-China To-Do List:

De-democratize my backpack and suitcase.

Organize all of the skateboard shit that's going over with me.

File travel plans with U.S. Embassies in Hong Kong and Guangdong Province.

Find all my power converters.

Buy a new camera cleaning kit.

That's it for right now.

Lehman Bros Shocker

The brothers of Lehman, you fucks, I hope you buried some of that money. I'm excited to see the whole report but until then this blurb will have to do.

"According to the report, Lehman used what amounted to financial engineering to temporarily shuffle $50 billion of troubled assets off its books in the months before its collapse in September 2008 to conceal its dependence on leverage, or borrowed money. Senior Lehman executives, as well as the bank's accountants at Ernst & Young, were aware of the moves, according to Mr. Valukas, the chairman of the law firm Jenner & Block and a former federal prosecutor, who filed the report in connection with Lehman's bankruptcy case."

Cincinnati comes in first place as the country's craziest city by the Daily Beast, beating out Las Vegas, NYC, and San Fran.

Montana

Met up with Bird and Dezur at Big Sky and scored a powder day!

Paris

February day trip. 14 hours of flight time, 26 hours on French soil.

Skate China

Skating in Shenzhen. Came across a little skater and had a session. Different languages but one common interest. Diplomacy through skateboarding.

Then the police cleared out the plaza for me to skate. Real common in the states.

China in October

Playing catch-up isn't easy, but I'm trying. Few pics from my first trip to southern China.
