Proof positive: Facebook can be useful.

Earlier today, my good friend Scott Fraser of Pistol Clothing had motor trouble in the Oregon backcountry. After sending his riding partner off to find help on another trail back and with a bad storm rapidly approaching Scott sent out a distress call via Facebook. The following chain of posts occurred earlier today.
First Post.

Scott uses Google mapping to post his location. Essential in any necessary rescue effort.

Just thought this was a great example of smart thinking on Scott's part and rare utilization of social networking media to avert disaster. As it turns out, everyone made it out ok but the biggest danger in the backcountry is being lost and rescuers having no way of knowing where to start looking. Glad you're ok homey!
